Capacitor Blocking Units (“CBUs”) are used to prevent high-frequency power line communication signals through grounded capacitor banks

APPLICATIONS
‣ A high impedance inductor that prevents distribution line carrier signals from being shunted to ground through grounded distribution capacitors
‣ Provides low impedance to ground at 50 or 60 hertz power frequency, but a high impedance to ground carrier signal
‣ Designed to withstand the switching duty imposed by switched capacitor banks and fault currents that may be associated with capacitor failures
‣ A single CBU is needed for each phase of a single bushing ground capacitor bank
‣ The three-phase bank composed of two bushing capacitors may be blocked with a single CBU placed in the common or neutral of the capacitor bank
