A “Capaciformer” is
a Potential Equipment Transformer (PET) with a coupling capacitor
across the H1 and X1 terminals.
A
capaciformer is
used where a high frequency communication and/or telemetry
signal is sent through the medium voltage, 60 HZ power line.
The
transformer provides 120 or 240 volt, 60 HZ station power.
The
coupling capacitor allows high frequency communications/telemetry
signals to pass through while blocking the 60 HZ voltage.
